Eric Laumann is an Associate Wealth Advisor at Clearwater Capital Partners. With a decade of investment and risk management experience, Eric decided to join Clearwater Capital Partners to help individuals and families achieve their lifestyle and legacy goals. The Clearwater Capital team works to achieve this efficiently and logically through intelligent investment management, retirement income planning, life insurance structuring, charitable giving and dynastic estate planning.
Eric has earned the Chartered Financial Analyst® (CFA) designation by passing three six-hour exams that are widely considered to be the most rigorous in the investment profession. He chose to pursue the CFA designation in order to develop proficiency in a wide range of fundamental and advanced investment topics. These include ethical and professional standards, fixed-income and equity analysis, alternative and derivative investments, economics, financial reporting standards, portfolio management, and wealth planning.
Prior to joining Clearwater Capital Partners, Eric was a professional Portfolio Manager at Spot Trading, a proprietary trading firm in Chicago, Illinois. He led a team of traders and research analysts that covered over 1000 individual equity positions and from 2014-2017 produced the firm’s highest risk adjusted returns. In 2011, Eric attained both the Series 56 Proprietary Trader and the Series 44 PCX Market Maker license. He also served on the Trading Leadership Committee that analyzed market forces and handled risk management for the portfolio.
Eric started his career in Knoxville, TN with General Electric in their Operations Management Leadership Program. Here he applied his analytical mind to improving efficiency and optimizing processes through the principles of Lean manufacturing and Six Sigma.
Eric graduated cum laude from the University of Notre Dame with a Bachelor of Science degree in Mechanical Engineering. He was inducted into the National Honorary Engineering Fraternities of Pi Tau Sigma and Tau Beta Pi. Pi Tau Sigma is the International Honor Society for Mechanical Engineers whose members are chosen on a basis of sound engineering ability, scholarship service, leadership, and integrity. Tau Beta Pi is awarded to those who have conferred honor upon their Alma Mater by distinguished scholarship and exemplary character as students in engineering. He is also a member of the Notre Dame Club of Lake County.
Eric was born and raised in Dayton, OH. He currently lives in Barrington, IL with his wife, Ali, and three young children. He enjoys playing tennis and paddle with his wife and attending his children’s sporting events and dance recitals.
