James F. Chapman, CIO

 

James F. Chapman AWMA®, is a Wealth Advisor at Clearwater Capital, completing six consecutive years in the firm’s analyst residency program. Career ambitions came at an early age for James when he joined the firm in 2010. Over the past seven years, James has experienced considerable development in his knowledge of Wall Street and in the disciplines of wealth management.

James majored in Finance at Illinois State University’s College of Business, ranked by Bloomberg BusinessWeek as one of the nation’s best undergraduate business schools for six years running. At Illinois State he was an active member of the Delta Chi Fraternity. In 2016, he was recognized by the ISU College of Business for scoring in the top ten percentile on the ETS® Major Field Exam in Business.  This comprehensive exam is administered each year to over 40,000 business school students at over 570 universities across the country.  A top decile ranking nationwide represents quite an achievement.

In 2013, James earned the Accredited Wealth Management AdvisorSM (AWMA®) designation from the College for Financial Planning®. The AWMA® curriculum is developed by the College’s highly esteemed faculty with input from the country’s top investment and financial firms.

In 2014, James passed the Series 65 - Uniform Investment Adviser Law Examination administered by FINRA. Accordingly, he became a Licensed Investment Adviser Representative of BSC Private Wealth, one of the youngest candidates to pass the exam at 19 years of age. 

In the summer of 2015, James passed all four Illinois insurance examinations. Upon passing, he obtained his Illinois Insurance producer license for Life and Health Insurance. 

James is currently enrolled in the Certified Financial Planning Program at Northwestern University’s School of Professional Studies. The CFP® certification is generally recognized as the highest standard in personal financial planning. In the future, James will enroll in the Securities Industry Institute’s (SII®) three year program at the University of Pennsylvania Wharton School. The Security Industry Institute is considered to be the premier executive development program for securities industry professionals.

James grew up in Boston, MA and St Charles, IL. While in Massachusetts he attended the prestigious Derby Academy. In 2012, James graduated from Westminster Christian School in Elgin.
